Nigeria, Brazil Set to Sign Over 30 Landmark MoUs

The Strategic Dialogue Mechanism (SDM) between Nigeria and Brazil officially began in Abuja on Tuesday, with the signing of over 30 agreements on the horizon.

Vice President Geraldo Alckmin of Brazil arrived in Nigeria with a delegation focused on fostering deeper cooperation between the two nations. The visit, which spans three days, is expected to yield commitments across sectors such as defence, agricultural technology, energy, education, and industrial development.

Vice President Kashim Shettima hosted Alckmin at the State House Conference Centre, joined by top-level Nigerian officials and ministers.

Speaking at the reception, Senator Ibrahim Hadejia noted: “This dialogue mechanism represents our commitment to leveraging South-South partnerships that deliver tangible benefits to our citizens.”

“Brazil’s expertise in agribusiness, energy transition, and industrial development aligns perfectly with Nigeria’s transformation priorities and the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.”

Highlights of the visit include a high-level gala dinner and joint press briefing by the countries’ Foreign Ministers.
