Nicolas Jackson Expected To Leave Chelsea With Newcastle A Likely Destination
Senegalese striker Nicolas Jackson is leaving Chelsea FC, and Newcastle United is the front-runner to sign him before the 2025–2026 Premier League season begins.
Discussions over a possible move are already in progress, and sources close to the matter confirm that Chelsea is willing to allow the 23-year-old forward to depart after just one season at Stamford Bridge.
“Jackson’s future at Chelsea looks uncertain,” a club insider said. “There’s interest from several clubs, but Newcastle is making the most concrete move so far.”
Chelsea coach Enzo Maresca also added, “During the window, anything can happen.”
“That’s also the case for Nico Jackson. We signed two strikers… let’s see.”
Newcastle needs attacking additions, with Callum Wilson’s future remaining uncertain as the team struggled with injuries throughout the 2024–25 campaign. According to reports, manager Eddie Howe respects Jackson’s unadulterated speed, physicality, and capacity for growth in a more secure environment.
Hailed as one of the Premier League’s most exciting young attacking players, Jackson joined from Villarreal in the summer of 2023 for an estimated £32 million. Although he had moments of genius, his first campaign was uneventful.
Despite having 13 goals across all competitions, he lacked poise in front of goal and was frequently criticised for making poor choices at key moments. Jackson seems to have fallen in the pecking order after Chelsea signed two strikers, Joao Pedro and Liam Delap, from Wolverhampton Wanderers and Ipswich Town, respectively.
