New Blockchain Bridges TON, Ethereum via Telegram
Tac, a new Layer 1 blockchain compatible with the Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM), has officially launched its mainnet, paving the way for Telegram-based mini apps to tap into Ethereum’s expansive decentralised application (dApp) ecosystem.
Announced in July 2024, Tac was built to serve as a technological bridge between Telegram’s growing crypto economy—largely powered by The Open Network (TON)—and leading EVM chains like Ethereum.
With today’s mainnet launch on July 16, Tac aims to create seamless interoperability that unlocks Telegram’s potential in the DeFi world.
Telegram has already seen massive adoption of blockchain-enabled mini apps such as Hamster Kombat, Notcoin, and Catizen, all of which helped build momentum for TON’s user base. However, these apps have so far operated in isolation from Ethereum and the wider DeFi landscape.
With Tac now live, Telegram users can gain direct access to Ethereum-based liquidity, financial tools, and services. The integration is expected to bring Telegram’s vast audience closer to multi-billion-dollar DeFi markets while encouraging developers to build more connected experiences across both ecosystems.
This launch marks a major step forward in bridging two dynamic crypto communities—Ethereum and TON—through the widely used Telegram platform.
