Nepal swears in first female Prime Minister after Gen Z protests
Following the resignation of Khadga Prasad Oli, Sushila Karki has been sworn in as the new and first female Prime Minister of Nepal.
DAILY POST reports that Oli resigned on Tuesday following a revolutionary protest by Gen Z, who violently attacked some politicians over the ban on social media and alleged corruption in the country.
The unrest claimed several lives, and properties belonging to public office holders were extensively destroyed.
Oli’s successor was sworn in on Wednesday at Shital Niwas in Kathmandu.
She was the first female Chief Justice of Nepal.
According to reports, the new Prime Minister, who also participated in the protest, was chosen by Gen Z.
She is known for her strong stance against corruption and her devotion to the rule of law.
