NCR Nigeria Appoints Prosper Okpue as Independent Non-Executive Director

NCR (Nigeria) PLC has announced the appointment of Chief Prosper Chegwe Okpue as an Independent Non-Executive Director, following approval by the company’s Board of Directors at its meeting held on Wednesday, October 22, 2025.
In a statement signed by the company secretary, Bernice Anya, the appointment of Chief Okpue fills the casual vacancy created by the resignations of Mr Jimmy Kallumkal and Ms Karen Witthoft in November 2024.
“This is to notify the investing public and Nigerian Exchange Limited that the Board of Directors of NCR (Nigeria) PLC (the Company) held a meeting on Wednesday, 22 October 2025 and at the meeting, the Board considered the appointment of Chief Prosper Chegwe Okpue as a Director to fill the casual vacancy left as a result of the resignation of Mr. Jimmy Kallumkal and Ms. Karen Witthoft in November 2024,” Anya stated.
Chief Okpue currently serves as the Chief Executive Officer of Insurance Brokers of Nigeria Limited (IBN), the country’s pioneer risk and insurance advisory firm founded in 1955. Under his leadership, IBN has become a recognised leader in innovation and growth within Nigeria’s insurance sector.
“Chief Okpue is the Chief Executive Officer of Insurance Brokers of Nigeria Limited (IBN), Nigeria’s pioneer risk and insurance advisory firm established in 1955. A distinguished industry leader, Chief Okpue has been instrumental in transforming IBN into a powerhouse of innovation and growth within the Nigerian insurance landscape,” the statement noted.
Throughout his illustrious career, Chief Okpue has driven key initiatives that reshaped Nigeria’s insurance industry. He spearheaded the development of IBN’s Energy Insurance Practice, significantly boosting the firm’s market presence and profitability.
“He spearheaded the development of IBN’s Energy Insurance Practice, which significantly expanded the firm’s market reach and revenue base. He also pioneered the Loss Control Engineering and Risk Management Practice in Nigeria’s insurance industry, setting new standards for professional excellence and technical expertise,” Anya explained.
Further underscoring his commitment to advancing the sector, Chief Okpue founded Industrial Risks Protection Consultants (IRPC), a subsidiary of IBN specialising in risk control engineering and industrial safety consultancy.
“In pursuit of specialised risk solutions, Chief Okpue established Industrial Risks Protection Consultants (IRPC), IBN’s dedicated subsidiary, focused on risk control engineering and industrial safety advisory services,” she added.
Chief Okpue’s influence extends beyond Nigeria. He currently serves as a board member and Regional Director (Africa & Middle East) at UniBa, a global network of independent insurance and risk management advisory firms represented in over 80 countries, with combined premium placements exceeding €8 billion.
“Beyond his national impact, Chief Okpue serves as a Board Member and Regional Director (Africa & Middle East) of UniBa, a global network of independent insurance and risk management advisory firms represented in over 80 countries with a combined premium placement exceeding €8 billion,” Anya stated.
According to NCR (Nigeria) PLC, the appointment takes effect immediately and is subject to ratification by shareholders at the company’s next Annual General Meeting (AGM).
“The Board approved the appointment of Chief Prosper Chegwe Okpue as an Independent Non-Executive Director of the Company with effect from Wednesday, 22 October 2025, subject to ratification by the Shareholders at the next Annual General Meeting of the Company,” the statement read.
Concluding the announcement, the board and management extended their congratulations and best wishes to Chief Okpue as he assumes his new role.
“The Board and Management of the Company wish the newly appointed Director all the best as he takes on his new appointment,” Anya affirmed.
