The Nigerian Bar Association, NBA, Keffi branch, in collaboration with the Zonal Chief Magistrate of Keffi zone, Ishaku I. Eggah, and a representative of the Attorney General of Nasarawa State, Akuson A. Hosea, has embarked on an oversight visit to detention centers across the zone, in a joint effort to uphold legal standards and protect detainee rights.
The visit, which took place on Monday, July 7, 2025, aligns with Section 34 of the Administration of Criminal Justice Law (ACJL) of Nasarawa State, 2019, and follows the directives of the Chief Judge and Chairperson of the Administration of Criminal Justice Monitoring Committee, Justice Aisha Bashir-Aliyu.

Speaking during the inspection, NBA Keffi Chairman, Haruna Favour, stated the importance of the initiative, noting that it reinforces collaboration between the private Bar, the Judiciary, and the public.

“The visit highlights our commitment to strengthening the relationship between justice stakeholders and ensuring that the rights of detainees are protected,” he stated.

The Police Prosecutor of the zone was also present during the visit, which focused on assessing the conditions of detainees and ensuring that law enforcement authorities are adhering to the provisions of the ACJL.
