Navy Discovers 60 Illegal Crude Oil Pits In 4 Days

As the fight against crude oil theft intensifies, the Nigerian Navy has discovered at least 50 dugout pits used for siphoning crude oil in Delta and Rivers States.
The Navy Ship Delta discovered the pits in four days, with 12 dug-out pits discovered in the Obodo Omadino Community, Warri South-West Local Government Area of Delta State.
On June 3, Navy troops of Operation DELTA SANITY destroyed 16 dug-out pits and several sacks laden with stolen crude oil, also in Obodo Omadino.
On June 4, the Navy Ship PATHFINDER disconnected a wellhead connected to pipes for crude oil theft in Rivers.
The Navy patrol team also discovered eight illegal refinery sites with 26 refinery ovens, 30 reservoirs, 32 dug-out pits, and illegally refined AGO in the Egbeda area of Rivers State.
