The Chief of the Naval Staff(CNS), Vice Admiral Emmanuel Ikechukwu Ogalla has paid a condolence visit to the family of Lieutenant Commander Gideon Yashim Gwaza on Thursday, August 22, 2024.

Lieutenant Commander Gwaza, a highly dedicated officer, lost his life on July 30, 2024, while leading a rescue mission to save 59 persons from drowning on a dredging vessel, MV AMBIKA 4, at the Okpobo River entrance.

The Chief of the Naval Staff encouraged the widow and children to take heart, assuring them that the Nigerian Navy will never forget Lieutenant Commander Gwaza’s sacrifice and will continue to support the family.

The visit, accompanied by top naval officials, including Rear Admiral Kennedy Ezete, Rear Admiral MY Dahiru, and Commodore ST Lengaya, was a solemn yet encouraging gesture to the family.
