Super Eagles midfielder, Wilfred Ndidi has revealed that the team is ready to go all out for victory against Benin Republic in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.

Nigeria will take on the Squirrels of Benin Republic at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium, Uyo on Saturday, September 7.

Gernot Rohr-led Benin Republic defeated Nigeria 2-1 in the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier in May.

Ndidi is confident that he and his teammates are ready to improve on their recent poor performances in the World Cup qualifiers.

He said, “We know we haven’t done as well as we wanted in the World Cup qualifiers but we’re ready to make things right in Uyo,

“They [Benin] had their win in Abidjan but we’ll see what happens in Uyo. Don’t worry; we’re prepared.”

The Super Eagles have been paired with Benin Republic, Libya and Rwanda in Group D of the Nations Cup qualifiers.

Currently, the Super Eagles does not have a coach as the Nigeria Football Federation are still locked in talks with the candidates.

The leading candidate, Janne Andersson, confirmed that he is in talks with the NFF to replace Finidi George.

He said, “It’s a huge footballing nation. I can confirm that I have had a dialogue with the Nigeria Football Federation.

“It’s a huge footballing nation, so I’m extremely flattered to be in the running to be their next national team coach.

“Dialogue is ongoing, and I don’t really want to say more than that. I have been in this industry for so long and know that things can happen in different ways. So we’ll see what happens in the future.”

Augustine Eguavoen is expected to be in charge of the Super Eagles on an interim basis for the Nations Cup qualifiers in September.

Three days after taking on Benin Republic in Uyo, Nigeria will take on Rwanda on September 10 at the Amahoro Stadium in Rwanda.
