In a bid to strengthen efforts in regaining Nigeria’s national values, the Director General of the National Orientation Agency (NOA), Mallam Lanre Issa-Onilu, led a courtesy visit to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) headquarters in Abuja.

The visit aimed to forge a partnership focused on behavioural reorientation for Nigerian citizens, particularly in youth engagement, leadership values, and citizen codes of conduct.

During the visit, Mallam Issa-Onilu emphasized the importance of collaboration among key stakeholders to drive a nationwide campaign for value reorientation.

He highlighted that the effort to reshape societal values requires contributions from all sectors, ensuring that the framework for behavioural changes spans across every segment of society.

“The battle to regain our national values is one that cuts across all areas of society, and it is imperative that we work together to achieve this goal,” Issa-Onilu said.

The Executive Chairman of the EFCC, Mr. Olanipekun Olukoyede, expressed his appreciation for the collaboration opportunity, noting the shared mission between both agencies.

He recognized NOA’s significant role in behavioural modification and public engagement, emphasizing its alignment with the EFCC’s objective of promoting transparency, ethical behaviour, and combating corruption.

Mr. Olukoyede praised NOA’s contributions to fostering a responsible and informed citizenry, which supports the EFCC’s goals of reducing corruption through enforcement and preventive strategies.

He reiterated the EFCC’s commitment to partnering with NOA in the fight against corruption, believing that a combined approach will create a positive impact on national values and ethical conduct.

“We are committed to blending enforcement with preventive measures, and the synergy between EFCC and NOA will further reinforce the fight against corruption and unethical behaviour in Nigeria,” Olukoyede stated.

Both agencies expressed optimism that the collaboration would yield significant results in reorienting Nigerians towards a culture of integrity, transparency, and responsibility.

In a related development, the Chairman of the Revenue Mobilisation Allocation and Fiscal Commission (RMAFC), Muhammad Bello Shehu, has called for enhanced collaboration with the EFCC to tackle revenue leakages and ensure the recovery of unremitted or lost revenues to government coffers.

The appeal was made during a courtesy visit to the EFCC’s Executive Chairman in Abuja.
Shehu emphasized the need for the EFCC’s assistance not only in enforcement but also in intelligence gathering and data sharing regarding government revenue from various sources.
