National Blockchain Goes Live in Vietnam to Power Public, Private Services

Vietnam has officially launched NDAChain, its national blockchain platform, as part of an ambitious digital transformation strategy. Introduced on July 25, 2025, NDAChain aims to strengthen national data security, enhance transparency, and streamline digital services across sectors such as finance, healthcare, education, and logistics.

Developed by the National Data Association, NDAChain uses a hybrid model that combines centralised control with decentralised technologies. It features a permissioned Layer 1 blockchain with 49 validator nodes run by public institutions and major Vietnamese corporations, including Zalo, MISA, Masan, and SunGroup.

The network operates on a Proof-of-Authority (PoA) consensus mechanism and integrates Zero-Knowledge Proofs (ZKPs) to balance data privacy with verifiability. With a processing capacity of up to 3,600 transactions per second, NDAChain is built for high-volume applications.

Among its key features is NDA DID, a digital identity solution that protects users from fraud in online interactions and transactions. It also powers NDATrace, a product verification tool aligned with EU standards, positioning Vietnamese exports for greater global reach.

Vietnam joins over 50 countries, including China, the EU, and South Korea, in launching national blockchain platforms. NDAChain distinguishes itself with robust public-private partnerships, adherence to global data standards (like GDPR and W3C DID), and integration with Vietnam’s National Data Centre.

Full nationwide integration is expected by late 2025, with expansion to local governments and academic institutions planned for 2026. Future goals include building digital wallets, e-signature tools, and international collaborations.

Despite its strong foundation, Vietnam must address challenges including interoperability, public trust, and managing risks from volatile crypto markets.
