Nasarawa west Senator Ahmed Wadada resigns from SDP

Senator Ahmed Wadada, who represents Nasarawa West, has announced his resignation from the Social Democratic Party, SDP.

He conveyed this in a letter directed to the Chairman of the SDP, Tudun Ward, in Keffi Local Government Area of Nasarawa State.

According to the News Agency of Nigeria, the letter, dated Thursday, was titled “Notification of Resignation from the Social Democratic Party (SDP).”

It read, “I am writing to inform you of my decision to resign as a member of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), effective immediately.

“This decision has not been taken lightly but I feel compelled to do so due to the lingering internal crisis that has plagued our party for some time.

“As you are aware, these internal conflicts have led to serious division and litigations within the party.

“I appreciate the opportunities given to me while been a member of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) and grateful for the experiences and relationship built.

“However, I feel it is time for me to move on and explore new avenues.”

This development follows Wadada’s recent remarks expressing support for President Bola Tinubu’s administration.

After his visit to the State House, the senator refuted suggestions that the African Democratic Congress could present a leader who would outperform Tinubu’s achievements.

Wadada also suggested the possibility of rejoining the All Progressives Congress, noting that he had earlier served as a national officer of the Peoples Democratic Party before moving to the APC and subsequently the SDP.

He emphasized that his exit from the SDP was not driven by any dispute with the party but rather by what he described as “the dynamism of life.”
