Nasarawa PDP rejects coalition moves, declares party big enough for all interests

The Nasarawa State chapter of the People’s Democratic Party, PDP, has issued a stern warning to its members against participating in any opposition coalition, distancing itself from recent alliance talks ahead of the 2027 general elections.

In an official statement released by the party’s State Publicity Secretary, Mallam Hamza Ibrahim, the PDP stated its commitment to internal unity and rebuilding, declaring that it remains “stronger and more formidable than ever” in its mission to reclaim power from the All Progressives Congress (APC).

“The state chapter of the PDP vehemently distanced herself from the ADA/ADC/COALITION,” the statement read.

“We implore our respected stakeholders who have the interest of the generality of the party and state at heart, our dedicated members and by extension every citizen to disassociate themselves from attending any meetings in the name of coalition.”

The party reiterated that its structure remains a credible platform for all, asserting that internal restructuring efforts are ongoing to resolve disagreements and restore confidence among its grassroots supporters.

“The UMBRELLA is big enough to accommodate all interests and to provide a credible platform for reformation and to provide alternative leadership for our dear state and the country at large,” Ibrahim added.

Despite the party’s position, cracks appear to be emerging from within. Sources confirm that hundreds of PDP members, including notable stakeholders, have tendered their resignations and joined the coalition platform under the African Democratic Congress (ADC), this signals deeper unrest within the party ranks.

Nevertheless, the PDP has announced plans to convene an expanded State Executive Committee meeting in the coming days.

The meeting, according to the statement, will assess party progress, address ongoing challenges, and finalize a strategic roadmap for its next steps in the lead-up to the elections.
