NAF Graduates 302 Officers, Airmen, Women In Kaduna
The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) on Wednesday graduated 302 officers, airmen, and airwomen from various military courses at the Air Force Institute of Technology (AFIT) in Kaduna.
Chief of Air Staff (CAS), Air Marshal Hasan Abubakar, said AFIT has consistently delivered on its mandate as the leading source of technical manpower for NAF.
He explained that the Institute has evolved into a multidisciplinary centre for academics and research, producing skilled professionals and driving innovations in aircraft maintenance, operational readiness, and self-reliance in airpower.
“AFIT stands tall as one of the most sought-after institutions of higher learning in Nigeria, a reputation built on academic excellence, strict discipline, zero tolerance for strikes, and adherence to the principle of federal character.
“These values have firmly established it as a rallying point for technological advancement and a pillar of our national defence architecture,” Abubakar said.
The CAS further underscored AFIT’s role in national development, noting that the establishment of the NASENI North-West Technology Innovation Hub on its premises marks a step toward strengthening Nigeria’s technological independence.
He added that AFIT offered tuition-free training for Nigerian Army Corps of Supply and Transport personnel under the Army Aviation Wing, describing it as evidence of inter-service cooperation and the Institute’s growing influence across the Armed Forces.
While addressing the graduates, Abubakar tasked them with safeguarding and maintaining Nigeria’s new-generation aircraft.
“You are now the custodians of these platforms, entrusted with their safety, airworthiness, and mission readiness.
“The Service looks to you to apply your skills with precision, innovation, and dedication, ensuring that our assets remain combat-ready at all times,” he said.
He urged them to remain disciplined, embrace lifelong learning, and uphold NAF’s core values of integrity, service before self, and excellence.
“By living up to these ideals, you will not only help defeat terrorism and insurgency but also make our beloved country a bastion of peace, progress, and sustainable development,” he added.
Abubakar commended the National Assembly, the Ministry of Defence, the AFIT Governing Council, and other stakeholders for their contributions to the Institute’s progress.
Earlier, AFIT Commandant, Air Vice Marshal Sani Rabe, thanked the CAS for his support.
He assured that AFIT would continue producing disciplined and highly skilled professionals while pursuing innovations that enhance NAF’s operational effectiveness and contribute to national development.
