NAF Bombs Boko Haram Camps In Borno
Nigerian Air Force (NAF) fighter jets on Friday launched airstrikes on a Boko Haram hideout in Bita, Borno State, killing an unspecified number of terrorists attempting to flee the area.
The Director of Public Relations and Information at the NAF Headquarters, Air Commodore Ehimen Ejodame, said the operation was carried out under Operation Hadin Kai (OPHK), a military campaign targeting insurgents in Nigeria’s northeast.
According to Ejodame, the mission took place in the early hours of Friday, May 30, and targeted terrorists fleeing from the Bita axis, a known enclave of Boko Haram activities.
“The Nigerian Air Force (NAF), through the Air Component of Operation Hadin Kai, has recorded a major operational success against Boko Haram terrorists,” Ejodame stated.
“In the early hours of today, 30 May 2025, NAF combat aircraft carried out precision airstrikes on fleeing terrorists in Bita, Borno State, neutralising scores of insurgents in what has been described as one of the most decisive blows against the group in recent times.
“The highly coordinated operation, executed under the cover of darkness, represents a major leap in ongoing efforts to dismantle the operational capabilities of terrorist elements undermining national security in the North East.
“Ground forces have since commenced clearance and exploitation operations to consolidate on the gains achieved from the successful air strikes.”
The Air Force said it remains committed to protecting civilians and maintaining control over national airspace and territory.
“All necessary measures are being taken to ensure that terrorist elements have no haven anywhere within the country,” Ejodame added.
The airstrikes follow recent instructions from the Chief of Air Staff (CAS), Air Marshal Hasan Abubakar, who directed air component commanders to intensify aerial operations across all geo-political zones, including the Northeast, Northwest, North Central, Southeast, and South-South.
The operation in Bita is one of several recent offensives under OPHK aimed at disrupting insurgent networks and cutting off their ability to regroup or launch attacks on civilian and military targets.
