NAF AirliftS Students From Jos After Plateau Killings
The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) on Thursday airlifted hundreds of students from the Air Force Military School and Air Force Girls Military School in Jos, Plateau State, in response to the recent wave of killings in rural communities across Bokkos and Bassa Local Government Areas.
At least 100 people were reportedly killed in the violence that spanned several weeks, according to reports by THE WHISTLER.
The attacks have raised renewed concerns over security in the state.
The evacuation, facilitated by NAF’s C-130 and ATR-42 aircraft, followed a high-level security meeting between President Bola Tinubu, the National Security Adviser, and the Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Musa.
The meeting was held less than 24 hours before the evacuation mission took place, underscoring the urgency of the situation.
In a post on the microblogging platform X, NAF emphasized the operation’s objective to ensure the safety of students amid the volatile security situation.
The post reads, “The Nigerian Air Force carried out a series of airlift missions, transporting hundreds of Junior Airmen and Junior Airwomen from Air Force Military School and Air Force Girls Military School, Jos, to various destinations across the country.
“The NAF’s iconic C-130 and ATR-42 aircraft soared across Nigerian skies, not for combat, but for care.
“For countless civilian parents and the families of NAF personnel, this was more than just a flight, it was a symbol of hope, love, and unity.
“Watching their children arrive home safely and swiftly boosted morale and reaffirmed trust in the Force that guards our skies.
“This mission, driven by the visionary leadership of the Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Hasan Bala Abubakar, reflects the heart of his Command Philosophy: ‘People First, Mission Always.”
