The All Progressives Congress, APC, has declared Rabiu Mukhtar as its candidate for the Garki/Babura Federal Constituency in Jigawa State.

Ismaila Ahmad Gadada, Chairman of the APC Primary Election Committee for the by-election, announced this following the party’s primary election held at Duplex, Babura, on Saturday.

He stated that the candidate emerged through consensus and was endorsed by all 110 delegates from the 22 wards of the constituency.

The election was conducted in the presence of the seven-member committee, party supporters, and security agencies.

Speaking after the election, the party’s candidate, Mukhtar Rabiu, commended Governor Umar Namadi, party leaders, and members for placing their trust in him. He also expressed his appreciation for the peaceful conduct of the party’s primary election.

He pledged to prioritise youth employment and job creation to improve the livelihoods of his constituents.

DAILY POST reported that the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, has fixed August 16, 2025, as the date for the Garki/Babura Federal Constituency election, following the death of Isa Dogon Yaro, who passed away on May 10, 2024, at the age of 46.
