Mohbad: Iyabo Ojo Petitions NSA Over Alleged Police Leak To VeryDarkMan

Nigerian actress, Iyabo Ojo, has petitioned the National Security Adviser, Mallam Nuhu Ribadu, and the Attorney-General of the Federation, Prince Lateef Fagbemi, over alleged misconduct by officers of the Nigeria Police Force National Cybercrime Centre (NPF-NCC).

She protested alleged access granted to social media activist Martins Vincent Otse, popularly known as VeryDarkMan, to the details of her police interrogation in Abuja.

In the petition dated July 29 and submitted through her legal representatives, The Maverick Forte Legal, the actress accused officers of the NPF-NCC of gross procedural violations.

According to her, this led to a breach of her privacy and a possible compromise of the ongoing investigation into the death of singer Ilerioluwa Aloba, popularly known as Mohbad.

The documents revealed that Ojo was invited by police in relation to her public statements accusing Azeez Fashola (Naira Marley) and Samson Balogun (Sam Larry) of complicity in Mohbad’s alleged harassment.

The actress said she was surprised to find out that VeryDarkMan was allegedly granted access to the details of her interrogation at the force headquarters.

The petition names the Commissioner of Police in charge of the NPF-NCC, CP Ifeanyi Henry Uche, as the officer responsible for the leak.

Ojo claims that shortly after the session, details of her interrogation were leaked online by the activist, an act she describes as a direct violation of her rights and an abuse of process.

She has since refused to honour any further invitations at the NPF-NCC office in Abuja, citing a lack of trust in the integrity and neutrality of the officers involved.

Iyabo Ojo is now requesting that the case be transferred to the Lagos Command of the Nigeria Police for independent and impartial investigation.

In addition to the NSA and AGF, the actress also sent copies of her petition to the Executive Secretary of the National Human Rights Commission and the Chairman of the Police Service Commission, urging them to address the issue.

The controversy follows a recent exchange between the actress and the activist, over details concerning Mohbad’s sudden death in 2023.

Ojo is one of the most vocal celebrities demanding justice for the late singer, who had reportedly accused certain individuals, including Naira Marley and Sam Larry, of harassment and threats.
