The Defence Headquarters (DHQ), through its Director of Defence Media Operations, Maj.-Gen. Markus Kangye disclosed this on Thursday.

The terrorists, according to Kangye, were killed between 3 January and 13 February. He said troops arrested 138 suspects and rescued 46 hostages within the period in view.

Also, the troops recovered 104 assorted weapons and 2,639 rounds of ammunition.

The breakdown of recovered weapons includes 55 AK47 rifles, 20 locally fabricated guns, eight Dane guns, 18 pump-action guns, 1,826 rounds of 7.62mm special ammo, 376 rounds of 7.62mm NATO, 366 rounds of 7.62 x 12.7mm ammo, 26 cartridges, as well as 14 assorted arms and 45 assorted ammunitions.

In the Niger Delta, he said troops recovered 497,152 litres of stolen crude oil, 142,000 litres of illegally refined AGO and 4,075 litres of PMS.

The troops further discovered and destroyed 164 crude oil cooking ovens, 37 dugout pits, 19 boats, 16 storage tanks, 38 drums and 42 illegal refining sites.

Other items recovered during the period include three pumping machines, four tricycles, seven motorcycles, five mobile phones and three vehicles, among others.

Meanwhile, the troops on internal operations recovered two calibrated aircraft engines from a long-time unidentified aircraft crash site in Borno State.

“Two calibrated aircraft engines from a long-time unidentified aircraft crash site, one double-barrel cannon gun and 16 missiles were also recovered,” he said.

The military reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining security in the region and urged citizens to provide timely intelligence to aid ongoing operations.
