A former member of the House of Representatives, Samaila Suleiman, has hailed Kaduna State Governor, Uba Sani for his remarkable progress in various areas of governance, including security, infrastructure, and healthcare.

He also said there’s visible growth in education in the state.

Sulaiman, who represented Kaduna North Federal Constituency made the statement while commemorating two years in office of Governor Sani, in Kaduna on Friday.

According to Sulaiman, who now serves as Councilor to the Governor on Infrastructures, the administration has enhanced security in the state by providing over 150 operational vehicles and 500 motorcycles to security agencies.

“The adoption of non-kinetic approaches, such as dialogue and community policing, and the recruitment of over 7,000 personnel for the Kaduna Vigilance Service, have gone a long way in achieving the desired results of the fight against insecurity,” he said.

The Counselor highlighted the administration’s efforts in infrastructure development, noting that the state had witnessed significant improvements in road infrastructure across the state.

“The reopening of the Kaduna-Birnin Gwari Road after several years of closure has helped in ensuring seamless transition of people and goods through that corridor of immense economic importance to our state.

“Road infrastructure across rural and urban areas have been enhanced, leading to the completion of 68 road projects, spanning over 700 km linking critical areas in both urban and rural parts of the state,” Suleiman added.

Sulaiman emphasized the administration’s commitment to education, stating that 62 new secondary schools with 600 new classrooms had been built, and 200 others renovated.

“This has improved learning environments for 200,000 pupils,” he said.

He also mentioned that the government had paid SSCE final exam fees for secondary school leavers from less privileged backgrounds, ensuring seamless transition to tertiary institutions.

The Counselor also highlighted the administration’s efforts in healthcare, noting that 290 primary health centers had been upgraded, and 13 general hospitals remodeled.

“This has earned the Governor an award of excellence as the best in the Northwest region,” Sulaiman said.

He added that tuition fees at state-owned tertiary institutions had been reduced by 40%, making education more accessible and affordable to all.

Sulaiman commended the Governor’s efforts in institutional strengthening and fiscal transparency, noting that Kaduna State was the first to domesticate the Open Government Partnership Action Plan of 2024 and 2025.

“Human Capital Investment which incorporated education and Health with the sole aim of making these fundamental needs accessible and affordable to all by reducing tuition fees at state-owned tertiary institutions by 40 percent, easing in the process financial burdens and curbing student dropouts,” he said.

The Counselor further emphasized the importance of citizen engagement at the grassroots level, which has led to improved security and rural transformation.

“There is now harmonious coexistence amongst citizens of diverse cultures and different religions courtesy of Governor Sani’s unifying persona,” he said.

“Citizens can now go about their legitimate businesses without fear of intimidation.”

Sulaiman praised the Governor’s compassion and regard for the interests of his subjects, citing the reinstatement of deposed traditional leaders and the return of shops to petty traders who were previously demolished.

“This is a leader with compassion and regard for the interest of his subjects at heart,” he said. ENDS.
