Messi makes history with fifth consecutive brace in MLS

Inter Miami captain, Lionel Messi, scored a fifth consecutive double in the 2-0 win over Nashville SC, extending a MLS record on Saturday.

Last week, the 38-year-old became the first player in MLS history to score multiple goals in four consecutive matches.

Messi netted in each half against Nashville to extend this record.

Along with Nashville’s Sam Surridge, he is the current top scorer in the MLS with 16 goals.

The eight-time Ballon d’Or winner grabbed his first goal after 17 minutes, breaking the deadlock with a sublime free kick.

It was Messi’s 69th goal from a direct free-kick in his career.

Messi’s second goal arrived in the 62nd minute, when he rounded the goalkeeper and stroked the ball into the net.
