Mercurity Fintech Holding Inc. (Nasdaq: MFH) has filed a Form 6-K with the U.S. SEC, officially confirming the launch of its $500 million decentralised finance (DeFi) basket treasury. The newly formed treasury will primarily target Solana (SOL), while also diversifying into Ethereum (ETH), Cardano (ADA), XRP, and BNB.
According to the filing, the initiative aims to deliver stronger on-chain returns and create a well-balanced digital asset portfolio. This marks a significant shift in Mercurity Fintech’s broader push into the DeFi space.
Initially, the company plans to accumulate SOL and operate validator nodes on the Solana blockchain. This dual strategy will enable MFH to contribute to network security and earn staking rewards, reinforcing its active presence in the ecosystem.
Wilfred Daye, MFH’s Chief Strategy Officer, emphasised that the DeFi basket aligns with the firm’s commitment to blockchain innovation and delivering long-term shareholder value. He noted that future acquisitions will be funded through a combination of existing reserves and upcoming fundraising campaigns, subject to regulatory and market developments.
To ensure compliance, all asset activities will be governed by strict internal controls and legal frameworks. Robust systems will also be implemented to ensure the treasury is managed securely.
This move reflects Mercurity Fintech’s broader goal to bridge the gap between traditional financial systems and blockchain-based innovations. The $500 million DeFi basket represents a major step in expanding the firm’s crypto footprint while adhering to regulatory standards.
