Mbappe Out for a Week with Gastroenteritis, to Miss Real Madrid's Next Clash with Pachuca

Kylian Mbappe, the star striker for Real Madrid, has been admitted to a medical facility due to a stomach condition – gastroenteritis and will be unavailable for approximately seven days, causing him to miss Real Madrid’s upcoming match in the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup.

The 26-year-old French national team leader was unable to participate in Tuesday’s practice due to illness and did not play in Wednesday’s match against Al-Hilal, which ended 1-1 in Real Madrid’s opening tournament game.

Real Madrid issued an official announcement on Thursday stating that Mbappe is dealing with a severe stomach ailment requiring hospital care for additional examination and observation.

This digestive condition, frequently resulting from contaminated food consumption, typically involves intestinal distress and nausea, with recovery generally occurring within seven days based on medical guidelines.

Mbappe’s unavailability will impact Real Madrid’s upcoming group match against Pachuca, the Mexican title holders, scheduled for Sunday. This represents a significant setback for the team managed by Xabi Alonso as they pursue success in their inaugural Club World Cup participation under the former player’s leadership.

Following his transfer from Paris Saint-Germain without a fee during the previous summer window, Mbappe has delivered an exceptional performance for Real Madrid, netting 43 times in 56 matches across various tournaments, with 31 of those goals coming in domestic league play.

Real Madrid began the 2025 Club World Cup as one of the expected contenders following ten years of European success; however, their opening match resulted in an unsatisfactory tie without their key player.
