Mbah Appoints Deputy Police Commissioner As Enugu Forest Guard Commander

Governor Peter Mbah of Enugu State has appointed Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Olamitisoji Akinbamilayo as the Commander of the Enugu State Forest Guard.
This is contained in an announcement signed by the Secretary to the State Government, Prof Chidiebere Onyia, on Friday.
Gov Mbah, in the release, also approved the appointment of Colonel Dan Didiugwu (rtd) as the Chairman of the Enugu State Forest Guard.
According to the release, Col Didiugwu’s appointment is subject to confirmation by the Enugu State House of Assembly. However, DCP Akinbamilayo’s appointment takes immediate effect.
The release said the appointments were part of Governor Mbah’s broader commitment to “safeguarding lives, property, and natural resources”.
Quoting the release, “These appointments are in alignment with the state government’s ongoing efforts to strengthen and professionalize forest and environmental security operations across Enugu State.”
THE WHISTLER reports that many communities in Enugu State, especially those on Enugu and Benue and Kogi borders, were attacked in past weeks by alleged herders.
