Marmoush Ruled Out Of Manchester United Clash

Manchester City have confirmed that Omar Marmoush will miss the clash against rivals Manchester United on Sunday after sustaining an injury while on international duty.
He was substituted in the ninth minute of Egypt’s World Cup qualifier match against Burkina Faso which ended goalless on Tuesday.
The Egyptian Football Association said in a statement that the national team doctor had “confirmed that Omar Marmoush’s injury is a bruised knee ligament, and the player will undergo an X-ray upon his arrival in Cairo on Wednesday morning.”
Similarly, Manchester City confirmed that the injury sustained against Burkina Faso will rule him out of the game against Manchester United on Sunday.
The statement read: “Manchester City FC can confirm that Omar Marmoush has sustained a knee injury whilst on international duty with Egypt. The City striker suffered the injury in the early stages of Egypt’s World Cup qualifying match with Burkina Faso on Tuesday evening.
“Initial results on a scan performed in Egypt indicate he will not be available for the Manchester derby on Sunday, and he will now return to Manchester for more assessment and to begin his rehabilitation. Everyone at City wishes Omar a speedy recovery.”
Marmoush made his debut for Egypt in 2021 against Libya, and has gone on to score seven goals in 39 appearances for the Pharaohs.
He joined Man City from Frankfurt for £59m in January, and he scored eight goals in 28 appearances last season.
He is yet to open his goalscoring account this season despite starting their last two Premier League matches against Brighton, and Tottenham.
It is another major blow for Pep Guardiola’s team after losing new signing, Rayan Cherki due to a hamstring injury.
The Cityzens have also endured a poor start to the 2025-26 Premier League season, losing two out of their first three Premier League matches.
Manchester City will be hoping to kickstart their season against their fellow struggling rivals Manchester United on Sunday at the Etihad Stadium.
