Marcus Rashford Completes Dream Loan Move to Barcelona, Seeks Career Revival
A major new chapter in English striker Marcus Rashford’s career has begun with the official completion of his season-long loan move from Manchester United to FC Barcelona.
The Catalan powerhouses have the option to finalise the deal for Marcus Rashford next summer for a rumoured €30 million price as part of the eagerly awaited transfer.
To complete the deal, which calls for Rashford, 27, to accept a 15% pay cut from his Manchester United salary, he travelled to Barcelona to sign a contract with the club.
During the term of the loan deal, Barcelona will pay him 100% of his gross salary of €14 million (about €7 million net) annually.
For Barcelona to make the transfer comply with La Liga’s Financial Fair Play rules, this financial modification to Rashford’s contract was essential.
The transfer to the top-flight Spanish club follows Rashford’s difficult time at Old Trafford, where he allegedly lost favour with Manchester United boss Ruben Rangnick.
He was on loan at Aston Villa for the second half of the 2024–25 season, and it has been publicly known that he wants to start again in a different league, especially at a team like Barcelona.
According to reports, Hansi Flick, the new coach of Barcelona, personally approved the acquisition because he thought Rashford would help the team’s offensive capabilities, particularly on the left wing.
