Manchester United Make Fresh Move for Aston Villa’s Emiliano Martinez
Manchester United have made a renewed approach for Aston Villa goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez as the club continues its search for reinforcement between the posts.
Sources close to the negotiations say United have re-established contact with Villa over a potential deal for the Argentina international, who played a key role in his country’s World Cup triumph in Qatar in 2022.
Martinez, 32, has been a standout performer for Aston Villa since joining from Arsenal in 2020, with his consistency and leadership helping Unai Emery’s side qualify for European competition. His performances have also made him one of the Premier League’s most coveted goalkeepers.
United’s renewed interest comes amid uncertainty over their current goalkeeping options, with manager Ruben Amorim seeking a reliable long-term choice. Andre Onana has faced mixed reviews in his first season at Old Trafford, while backup options remain limited.
Aston Villa, however, are reluctant to lose their No. 1 and are expected to demand a significant transfer fee. Martinez still has several years left on his contract, putting Villa in a strong negotiating position.
