Manchester United Focused On Chelsea Clash Not Europa League Final – Amorim
Manchester United coach Ruben Amorim has revealed that the players are focused on the Premier League clash against Chelsea on Friday and not the Europa League final.
The Red Devils will take on Chelsea in the Premier League on Friday in a bid to end their wretched run, which has seen them fail to win their last seven games.
Manchester United sit 16th in the English top flight, just outside the relegation zone, after their worst-ever Premier League season.
Amorim urged the players to focus on the Chelsea clash in preparation for the Tottenham encounter.
He said, “We cannot spend eight days, nine days without a game. That is a bad thing for the final.
“The best way is to face the game like we should face the game – it is to win the game. We need to perform; we need to win points in the Premier League, and that is the feeling.
“The players have to understand that if you play or don’t play against Chelsea, it means nothing to the final. That is important.
“I am just preparing for the game of Chelsea. That is my focus, and we want to win and to perform.”
The Portuguese manager said he has no intention of quitting the club despite winning just six of his 25 league games since taking charge in November.
Amorim said, “I’m far from quitting. I have a clear idea of what to do, and I understand the problems of the team.
“Since I arrived here, I’m always talking about standards. I cannot see the team having these results, especially in the Premier League, and not saying anything or taking responsibility.
“What I’m saying is that we need to perform or else they [the club’s hierarchy] will change us. That is normal.”
Manchester United have won four league games in 2025, three of which were against the teams who got relegated.
