Manchester United Defeat Brentford To Reduce Pressure On Ten Hag
Manchester United earned a 2-1 win over Brentford on Saturday to ease the pressure on under-fire coach, Erik Ten Hag.
The Red Devils had gone three Premier League matches without a win, which put Ten Hag’s future in doubt going into the international break.
The Dutch manager started Marcus Rashford, Rasmus Hojlund, and Alexander Garnacho in a bid to end their goal drought.
Brentford took the lead just before the break through Ethan Pinnock’s header while Matthijs de Ligt was off the pitch being treated for a head injury.
Just after the restart, Garnacho ended Manchester United’s 316-minute goal drought to bring them back into the game.
Rasmus Hojlund gave the hosts the lead in the 62nd minute with a calmly taken effort from a Bruno Fernandes’ sublime assist.
In the other Premier League games on Saturday, Tottenham earned a 4-1 win over West Ham, Aston Villa recorded a 3-1 win away at Fulham.
Leicester City earned a stunning 3-2 win over Southampton after going 2-0 down in the first half, while Brighton stunned Newcastle United 1-0, and Everton defeated Ipswich Town 2-0.
Up next for Manchester United is a trip to West Ham next Sunday, while Brentford takes on Ipswich Town.
