Man Who Beheaded Fashion Designer Arrested In Edo
Edo State Police Command has arrested a suspected ritualists who beheaded a 43 years old fashion designer, Lawrence Edobor, in the State
The suspect was arrested at about 2am on Friday in Evbuotubu, Benin City.
This was made public in a statement by the Edo State Police Command spokesperson, Moses Yamu on Saturday.
Yamu confirmed the incident and arrest of one of the suspects, Uwadiae Airebiuwa, (27 years) of Igbinudu Street, Evbuotubu Quarters, was tactical and successful.
He said, “On 07/03/2025 at approximately 03:00hrs, operatives of Evbuotubu Division alongside vigilante members, while on patrol of the area, intercepted and arrested one Uwadiae Airebiuwa, 27years, of Igbinudu Street, Evbuotubu Quarters, in possession of a fresh human head contained in a polythene bag.
“Upon interrogation, the suspect took them to a decapitated body of a man along the road near Eweka Shopping Plaza.
“The deceased, later identified by a family member as Edobor Lawrence, of 1 Osagie Street, Evbuotubu Quarters, was evacuated to the hospital for preservation while investigation continues.”
Yamu expressed the condolences of State Commissioner of Police, Betty Otimenyin to the affected.
He assured that the command would not rest until everybody involved in the heinous crime was brought to book.
It was revealed that the 43-year-old victim was said to be coming home from a burial that he attended on Thursday evening.
On his way, he was murdered and beheaded, an incident that left the community in shock.
This is because the deceased was a well-known fashion designer who owned a shop in Eweka in Evbuotubu.
But the suspects was said to have fled and gone into hiding, having left the headless body on the road.
The police command in Edo State has advised young persons to seek legitimate means of making money rather than venturing into crime
