Man Dies Saving Kidnapped Victims In Edo Forest

On Easter afternoon, a courageous young man named Ehigie, a wood saw operator and hunter from Udo-Eguare, made the ultimate sacrifice in a selfless act of bravery.
While navigating the forest in the course of his work, Ehigie unexpectedly encountered a group of armed kidnappers holding several innocent people captive. Without hesitation, he fired a warning shot, causing the kidnappers to panic and scatter temporarily. This bold action allowed him to rescue eight kidnapped victims and lead them toward safety through a familiar escape route.
However, the kidnappers regrouped and turned their aggression on Ehigie. Unable to harm him with gunfire, they resorted to attacking him with heavy woods. Despite his resistance, he was overpowered and tragically killed.
In a fit of rage following his resistance, the kidnappers blocked the Ugbenin/Udo Road, attempting to capture more victims. In the chaos that followed, two people sustained gunshot wounds but are currently receiving treatment at a hospital in Ubiaja. Thankfully, the earlier victims that Ehigie rescued have since been reunited with their families.
Ehigie is survived by a young wife and three children. His sacrifice should not go unnoticed. He gave his life for others—an act of pure heroism that deserves recognition and support from both the government and society.
