Man City Seal Tijjani Reijnders' £46.3M Deal from AC Milan

Manchester City have completed the signing of Tijjani Reijnders from AC Milan following an agreement on a transfer fee of approximately £46.3 million (€55 million).

The 26-year-old midfielder has signed a five-year contract at the Etihad Stadium, as stated by the club on Wednesday morning via their website.

This acquisition represents a significant addition to Pep Guardiola’s midfield options, with the Netherlands international having undergone a medical examination over the weekend. The transfer comes as City continue their summer recruitment drive, targeting players who can adapt to Guardiola’s tactical system.

Reijnders has established himself as a key player for both club and country, earning 22 caps for the Netherlands national team. He has demonstrated his quality in Serie A, where his performances last season caught the attention of Europe’s elite clubs.

“I am ecstatic to be signing for Manchester City,” Reijnders said. “City are one of the biggest teams in the world, with the best coach, world-class players, and outstanding facilities.

“Under Pep Guardiola, City have won so many titles, and I want to help keep that going with a lot more success in the coming years.”

The Dutch international brings valuable European experience to City’s squad, having proven himself at the highest level with Milan. His technical ability and tactical awareness align well with Guardiola’s preferred style of play.

Director of Football Hugo Viana expressed his satisfaction with the signing, highlighting Reijnders’ qualities.

“We are very happy that Tijjani has joined us, and we’re excited for him to be part of Pep’s squad,” he said.

“He arrives with extensive top-level experience in Europe, both at club level and on the international stage with the Netherlands.

“Tijjani adds extra energy, composure, and creativity to our midfield, and working with Pep and our coaches will only see him go from strength to strength.”

The signing forms part of City’s broader strategy to refresh their squad ahead of the new season. Reijnders’ versatility in midfield positions makes him an attractive option for Guardiola, who values players capable of fulfilling multiple tactical roles.

City’s investment in the Dutch midfielder reflects their commitment to maintaining competitiveness across all competitions, with Reijnders expected to contribute immediately to the team’s ambitions.
