Police in Katsina have arrested a 38-year-old man, Mubarak Bello, for allegedly carrying a gun and posing as a police officer.

The Command’s spokesperson, DSP Abubakar Sadiq Aliyu, said Bello was arrested during a routine patrol around 2:30 a.m. on September 13 in Kurfi Local Government Area.

He explained that officers stopped an ash-coloured Toyota Corolla with Lagos number plate GGE 473 BH after the driver failed to explain who he was and where he got the car.

On searching the vehicle, the police found a locally made rifle, four live cartridges, two used shells, a fake police identity card, and another plate number marked Kano FGE 68.

The Commissioner of Police, CP Bello Shehu, praised the officers for their quick action and assured that investigation into the matter is still ongoing.
