Man Allegedly Commits Suicide In Abuja
A middle-aged man identified only as IK was on Friday found dead in his home at Kagini, a satellite community in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja, after he allegedly took his own life.
Residents said the incident occurred inside one of the rooms of his apartment where he lived alone.
One of the neighbours, who resides opposite the deceased’s house, said the news was difficult to believe, recalling that he had seen the man the previous day.
“I saw him yesterday when he returned and went into his house as always. We woke up this morning to see a crowd gathered and later learnt he had hanged himself,” the resident could be heard saying in a video making the rounds.
The incident was also confirmed by Lere Olayinka, Senior Special Assistant on Public Communications and Social Media to the FCT Minister, who shared a video of the scene on his Facebook page.
“Man, identified as IK, committed suicide in Kagini area of the FCT, by hanging himself in his room,” Olayinka wrote.
A voice in the video was heard saying, ‘If he truly did it by himself, then there must be a table.”
As of the time of press, we couldn’t confirm whether relevant authorities had been notified of the suspected suicide.
