Liverpool Seal £100m Deal for German Star Florian Wirtz

Liverpool has confirmed the acquisition of German playmaker Florian Wirtz from Bayer Leverkusen in a major summer transfer move.

The 22-year-old midfielder has put pen to paper on a long-term deal with the Reds, following successful contract negotiations and the completion of mandatory fitness assessments.

Sources indicate the transfer fee is £100 million, with potential bonuses worth up to £16 million based on performance-related criteria.

The contract will keep Wirtz at Anfield until 2030.

The talented German, widely regarded as one of Europe’s brightest attacking midfield prospects, becomes manager Arne Slot’s latest signing as preparations continue for the new campaign. The move also reunites Wirtz with former Leverkusen teammate Jeremie Frimpong, further strengthening Liverpool’s midfield options.

Following the completion of his transfer, Wirtz told Liverpoolfc.com:

“I feel very happy and very proud. Finally, it’s done — I’ve been waiting for a long time, and now I’m really happy.

I’m excited to have a new adventure ahead of me. That was a big factor in my decision: I wanted something completely new, to step outside the Bundesliga and join the Premier League.

I’ll see how I can perform there. I hope I can give my best. I also spoke with some players who’ve played there, and they told me it’s perfect for me — every pitch is great, and you can enjoy every game. I’m really looking forward to playing my first match.”
