Constituents of Ringim and Taura Federal Constituency have rejected and returned cash gifts from their representative at the National Assmebly, Sa’adu Wada Taura.

The outrage by constituents was triggered after the lawmaker published names of those who received cash gifts or support from him since his assumption of office in 2023.

The lawmaker recently unveiled his book of achievements while speaking at the Jigawa State Citizens Engagement programme Organised by the Jigawa State Government.

The lawmaker was booed by the constituents, preventing him to mention some of his achievements before the gathering.

DAILY POST sighted the controversial book of achievements which included a list of 154 persons who he gifted money or assisted in the last two years.

The publication didn’t go well with some of the beneficiaries, provoking them to send return the lawmaker’s money back to his personal Account number.

One beneficiary of ₦20,000 cash gift, Haruna Sintilmawa who has also sent back his money described the publication as embarrassing and disgraceful.

According to him, “one day we meet and greeted with the lawmakers he gave me ₦20,000 gift, to my surprise I come across one book with my name boldly written among those who benefited from the lawmaker’s assistance ”

“I never requested any support from the lawmaker, he gave it to me of his own free will.t”

Also in the list is Ummahani Hassan who benefited ₦50,000 assistance, Her husband, Haruna Isiyaku also sent back the amount received by his wife as wedding present to the lawmaker.

In the list also is a security guard at Ringim Emirates Council who is listed as benefiting of ₦100,000, the amount was also sent back to the lawmaker.

Many of the beneficiaries whose names appeared in the book expressed their willingness to return the monies to the lawmaker sooner or later.

They described his action as a deliberate act to shame his constituents, accusing him of misrepresentation of the constituency.

All efforts to speak to the lawmaker at the time of this report were unsuccessful.
