Larry Ellison becomes world’s richest, dethrones Elon Musk

Co-founder of Oracle, Larry Ellison, has become the world’s richest man for the first time.

This means that the 81-year-old has now ended American billionaire Elon Musk’s near year-long reign in the top spot.

According to the Bloomberg Billionaires Index, Ellison’s fortune soared by $101 billion as of 10:10 am today in New York, following gains in Oracle Corp.

The report added that the increase lifted Ellison’s total fortune to $393 billion, ahead of Musk, who now sits at $385 billion.

It marks the biggest one-day increase ever recorded by the index.

Musk first became the world’s richest person in 2021 before losing the title to Amazon’s Jeff Bezos and LVMH’s Bernard Arnault.

He later reclaimed it last year and had held the position for just over 300 days.
