Land Revocation: UniAbuja Alumni seeks Tinubu’s intervention to stop Wike
The University of Abuja Alumni Association has asked President Bola Tinubu to intervene and stop the planned revocation of several hectares of land allocated to the institution.
The president of the Association, Abdulkadir Habeeb-Ullah, made this appeal on Tuesday in Abuja.
Abdulkadir described the attempted revocation by the Federal Capital Territory Minister, Nyesom Wike, as a direct assault on Nigeria’s educational heritage.
According to him, the allocation of 11,800 hectares to UniAbuja happened since 1988.
“The visitor of our dear University and our father, President Bola Tinubu, who adjudicates on any matter in doubt or dispute regarding the university, to urgently intervene and order the minister to retrace his steps regarding the university land.
“Minister Wike’s silence will not deter us,” he said.
This comes as the association vowed that its members will hit the streets of Abuja in protest if nothing is done to stop Wike.
“We will organise peaceful protests; we are pursuing legal action in competent courts of law,” he stated.
DAILY POST reports that in June 2025, Wike narrated how he stopped UniAbuja from allegedly grabbing 11,000 hectares of land in the Giri area of Abuja.
