Lamurde crisis: Fintiri relaxes curfew
Governor Ahmadu Fintiri of Adamawa State has relaxed the 24-hour curfew imposed on Lamurde Local Government Area.
Fintiri had announced the total curfew in the night of Saturday, July 12, 2025 due to a communal clash in the Lamurde LGA that would not end.
Fintiri’s Chief Press Secretary, Humwashi Wonosikou said of the latest development in a statement he passed to newsmen Monday afternoon: “Following a thorough assessment of the security situation in the area, Governor Fintiri has directed the relaxation of the 24-hour curfew imposed on the area.
“As of now, residents are allowed to move freely from 6:00 am to 5:00 pm daily.”
Wonosikou said the governor advised residents of the affected area to take advantage of the relaxation of curfew to maintain peace as they go about their daily activities.
According to Wonosikou, to ensure the continued safety of residents, Governor Fintiri has directed security agencies to maintain 24-hour surveillance in the area.
“The government appeals to residents to cooperate with security agencies and provide useful information that could aid peace efforts,” Wonosikou stated.
