Barcelona president, Juan Laporta, has weighed in on the Lamine Yamal and Lionel Messi comparisons.
Laporta, speaking on CNN, was questioned about the comparisons between Yamal and Messi and the football chief suggested there was no need mounting unnecessary pressure on young Yamal.
According to Laporta, Messi and Yamal are two different players and the very best in the world.
“Lamine Yamal is Lamine Yamal, Leo Messi was Leo Messi. Leo Messi has been the best player in the world, and Lamine, I think that in his position nowadays, is the best player in the world.”
Messi’s iconic number 10 shirt while at Barcelona has now been handed to Yamal.
Yamal got the shirt after he signed a new deal at the Catalan club.
His new deal will keep him at Camp Nou until 2031.
