The Lagos State Government has launched a digital system initiative aimed at streamlining service delivery, enhancing security, and increasing internally generated revenue through better property identification and taxation.

Unveiled on Tuesday, the initiative will officially go live on July 1, beginning with a pilot phase in Eti-Osa Local Government Area before expanding across all 57 LGAs and LCDAs.

According to the Special Adviser to the Governor on e-GIS and Urban Development, Dr. Olajide Babatunde, the digital house numbering system leverages technology to address long-standing challenges such as tax evasion, untraceable properties, and inefficient emergency response.

“This project is about providing Lagosians with the world-class services they truly deserve. We’ve had issues ranging from tax evasion to untraceable addresses. This new digital system is the solution,” Babatunde said.

The new address plates will be embedded with QR codes and color-coded by local government areas.

Scanning the QR code will provide real-time, verified property details—helping emergency responders, utility providers, and security operatives locate buildings quickly and accurately.
