Director General of the Lagos State Sports Commission, Lekan Fatodu, has revealed that the team will not be affected by the minor accident on their way to Abeokuta for the National Sports Festival.

The Lagos contingent had a minor accident on their way to Abeokuta on Friday along the Lagos-Abeokuta expressway.

Two officials sustained injuries in the accident, and they have been discharged from the hospital while reuniting with the team.

Fatodu is confident that the accident will not affect the morale of the team, who are ready to make Lagos proud at the festival.

He said, “I’ve met with the officials and athletes at the games village on Saturday, and everybody is in high spirits ahead of the games.

“We thank God it was a minor accident, and the officials have been discharged as well,” Fatodu said.

“Everyone is at the games village and we are ready to showcase Lagos as a centre of sporting excellence.”

Over 750 Athletes will represent Lagos at the National Sports Festival as the state targets improvement from their last performance at the 2022 National Sports Festival

Meanwhile, Team Lagos athlete Ronke Olarinoye won gold for the state on Sunday with a best of 65kg to pip Esther Amarachi Chijioke of the Invited Junior Athletes, who lifted 64kg, while Christiana Allorima of Rivers won the bronze with a best snatch of 61kg.
