Lagos Police Nab 22-Year-Old For Posing As Girls To Obtain Nude Photos
The Lagos State Police Command has arrested a 22-year-old man, Malik Opeyemi, for allegedly impersonating women online to lure unsuspecting male victims into nude video calls, which he later used to extort money from them.
According to a statement issued on Tuesday by the Command’s spokesperson, CSP Benjamin Hundeyin, Opeyemi was apprehended on May 16, following a complaint filed by one of his victims at the Area F Command.
Detectives swiftly launched an investigation, tracked the suspect to Oyo State, and transferred him to Lagos for further interrogation.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the suspect began the blackmail scheme in January this year, targeting men through various online platforms.
“Investigation revealed that the suspect has obtained over Four Million Naira (N4,000,000) from over thirty victims since he started this criminal enterprise in January 2025.
“Further investigations revealed his modus operandi as demanding twenty five thousand naira (N25,000) payment referred to as “subscription” fee from his victims for access to nude and intimate contents,” the statement read.
During his arrest, police recovered two Android smartphones—an Itel and a Samsung device—containing explicit images and videos of several victims.
A forensic examination of the devices confirmed the extent of his digital exploitation. The suspect has since been charged to court.
Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police, CP Olohundare Jimoh, has assured the public of the Command’s “unwavering commitment” to combating cybercrime and safeguarding residents from digital exploitation.
He urged members of the public to be cautious in their online interactions and to promptly report suspicious activities.
