The Commissioner of Police, CP Olohundare Moshood, has has noted that Saturday’s local government elections across Lagos State was peaceful and devoid of any security breaches.

During an on-the-spot assessment of several polling centres in Surulere, Festac Town, Amuwo Odofin, Okota, Ketu, and Ikorodu, CP Moshood described the electoral process as smooth and incident-free.
“So far, the process has gone very well. There has been no report of any disturbance. We are encouraging voters to come out, as there is still time to cast their votes,” the police chief told newsmen.

He noted that the Lagos State Police Command had implemented a robust security strategy to ensure a safe environment for voters and electoral officials alike. This, he said, included the deployment of personnel to every polling unit and collation centre across the 57 local government areas and LCDAs.

“Our deployment plan covers the entire electoral process, from polling to collation. Police officers are already stationed at all collation centres to maintain law and order,” he said.

CP Moshood also issued a stern warning against any post-election unrest, stressing that the police would not condone acts aimed at undermining the process.

“We are aware that some individuals may attempt to take advantage of the post-election period, whether to celebrate or express dissatisfaction. However, we will not allow anyone to incite unrest or blackmail the outcome. The peace we have witnessed so far must be sustained,” he added.
