Lagos Cracks Down On Fake Enforcement Officers, Arrests Four
The Lagos State Government has intensified efforts to rid its roads of impostors masquerading as enforcement officers, as the Ministry of Transportation apprehended four fake revenue officials in the country city on Wednesday.
A statement by the ministry said the suspects—Shola Tosin, Azeez Omilade, Adenle Said, and Olushola Raphael—were arrested by the Governor’s Monitoring Team (GMT) while attempting to extort motorists using falsified documents and faded reflective jackets.
Investigations revealed that they were in possession of fake enforcement credentials not only for Lagos but also for other states in the federation.
Speaking on the arrests, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Transportation, Mr. Olawale Musa, reaffirmed the government’s commitment to ensuring the safety and security of Lagos road users.
He urged residents to remain vigilant and report suspicious individuals posing as enforcement officers to the Ministry through its public complaint lines: 09020004000 or 09020009000.
Musa assured that the suspects would be prosecuted in accordance with the law, warning others engaged in similar fraudulent activities that the government would not tolerate such misconduct.
