A 44-year-old man, Wasiu Akinwande, popularly known as Olori Esho, has been ordered to be remanded at the Kirikiri Correctional Centre by an Ikeja Magistrate Court sitting in Ogba, Lagos State, over his alleged involvement in multiple murders and other serious offences.

Presiding Magistrate Mobolaji Tanimola issued the remand order on Tuesday, directing that the defendant remain in custody for an initial period of 30 days pending legal advice from the Directorate of Public Prosecution, DPP.

Akinwande is facing an 11-count charge brought against him by the Nigeria Police Force. The charges include conspiracy, multiple counts of murder, attempted murder, unlawful possession of firearms and dangerous weapons, membership of an unlawful society, threat to life, and infliction of grievous bodily harm.

According to the prosecuting counsel, Nosa Uhumwangho, the alleged offences were committed at various times and locations across Lagos State between December 9, 2010, and April 5, 2025. The areas mentioned include Mushin, Surulere, Idi-Araba, and Fadeyi.

Uhumwangho told the court that Akinwande was in unlawful possession of an AK-47 rifle when he allegedly shot and killed two men, 30-year-old Yusuf Bolakale and 23-year-old Yusuf Ramadan, at No. 11 Mosalashi Street, Mushin. He was later apprehended in the Alagbado area after evading arrest for some time.

The prosecution also alleged that on December 9, 2010, the defendant fatally shot a 10-year-old girl, Aminat Lateef, while she was running an errand along Tiamiyu Street in Fadeyi.

In another incident on July 31, 2024, Akinwande reportedly killed six people, including some identified only as Anyila and Ojajo, during a violent clash between rival cult groups at Idi-Araba.
