Lafarge Africa's Q2 Profit Soars 234% to ₦126.6 Billion

One of Africa’s largest cement manufacturing companies, Lafarge Africa Plc, reported a staggering 233.9% increase in pre-tax profit for the second quarter of 2025, reaching ₦126.6 billion compared to ₦37.9 billion in the same period last year.

The company’s half-year earnings stood at ₦199.7 billion, significantly above the ₦46.6 billion recorded in H1 2024. Revenue for Q2 surged by 70.2% year-on-year to ₦268.6 billion, driving total H1 revenue to ₦516.9 billion—up nearly 75%.

Cement remained the major revenue driver with ₦261.6 billion, while aggregates and concrete brought in ₦6.6 billion. Other business lines contributed ₦296.8 million.

Production costs increased to ₦95.8 billion in Q2, a 26.4% rise, but gross profit still more than doubled to ₦172.7 billion. Operating profit soared to ₦120.6 billion, reflecting a 152.8% increase despite higher selling and administrative expenses.

Finance income jumped 212.4% to ₦7.3 billion, with ₦5.3 billion derived from short-term deposits and ₦1.9 billion from FX gains.

Total assets hit ₦1.02 trillion, and retained earnings climbed to ₦364.4 billion—a 15.5% boost.

As of July 21, Lafarge shares were priced at ₦116 each, reflecting a 66.3% year-to-date increase.
