Labour Party Dying, Says Ex-Guber Aspirant Valentine Ozigbo

…Says Soludo Is APGA At Day, APC At Night

A former chieftain of the Labour Party (LP), Valentine Ozigbo, said that the party has lost its relevance in the political architecture of the country.

Ozigbo, who resigned from the party on February 20, revealed that some elected LP officials have confided in him that they are planning to dump the party.

Ozigbo had defected to the All Progressive Party (APC) ahead of the November 8 governorship election but failed to clinch the party’s ticket at the recent primary.

According to him, the Labour Party is not what people think the party is.

Speaking with Arise TV on Tuesday, the politician said, “Unfortunately, LP is almost in its dying days and over time people are going to see it.”

He added, “You can see how a lot of people are leaving the party. There is hardly any elected member of the party whom I have spoken to who is intending to run their re-election campaign under the same platform.

“The Labour Party for me is in the past. I took a decision to go into APC, not because I’m here to justify the actions of APC. I’m here as a catalyst for change.”

Speaking on the Soludo administration, Ozigbo reiterated his claims of a collusion between the present governor, Charles Soludo, who is also seeking reelection, and the APC.

Ozigbo had lost the APC ticket to Nicholas Ukachukwu, who won the primary with a landslide.

Ozigbo, consequently challenging the outcome of the primary election at the Anambra Federal High Court, further claimed that the All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA), under which Soludo is a flagbearer, is collaborating with Ukachukwu.

He said, “I don’t want the type of deal where Soludo is APGA in the afternoon and APC at night. You create confusion. You are not strengthening the party.

“If you want to be a man, be a man. If you want to be a woman, be a woman. If Soludo wants to be APGA, be APGA. Be proud of your APGA.”
