Kuteb group warns of imminent terror attacks in Southern Taraba

The Kuteb Yatso of Nigeria, KYN, has sounded an urgent alarm to both the Taraba State Government and the security agencies, warning of imminent, large scale coordinated attacks targeting communities in Southern Taraba.

Speaking at a world press conference held Saturday in Jalingo, the group’s National President, Emmanuel Ukwen, said KYN had received credible intelligence indicating that heavily armed terrorists have mobilized and are preparing to strike multiple locations across Ussa, Takum, Kurmi local government areas, and the Yangtu Special Development Area.

“This region has witnessed repeated, targeted violence against Kuteb communities. Most recently, on August 21, 2025, an attack near the Tati axis claimed the lives of three people,” Ukwen said.

KYN released a detailed list of areas deemed at high risk, including Ambiya, Tukwog, Muji 1 and 2, Basang, Acha Sarka, Tati, Sabon Gida Kuteb, Kwesati, Kumbu, and Kpambo Puri, among several others spread across the vulnerable local councils.

The group alleged that the suspected attackers are non-residents, infiltrating the region through porous border areas such as Basang in Takum.

The suspects, according to the group are also responsible for ongoing destruction of farmlands and displacement of farming communities in villages like Tamiya, Bika Lupwe, Jenuwa Nyifiye, and Ribasi.

In response to these threats, KYN passionately called on the concern authorities to immediately deploy security forces to the at-risk communities.

More to the suggestions, enhanced surveillance and intelligence sharing, support for local vigilante groups and community defense systems, and swift government intervention to forestall further bloodshed and destruction, they believed have become necessary.

The equally urged local communities to stay alert, cooperate with security agencies, and promptly report any suspicious activity as regional tensions continue to rise.

As of the time of filing this report, the state government and national security authorities have not issued an official response to the group’s alert.
