Kogi, Kaduna, Benue Top Paramilitary Recruitment Applications
Kogi State has emerged with the highest number of applicants in the recently concluded federal paramilitary recruitment exercise, according to data by the Civil Defence, Correctional, Fire and Immigration Services Board (CDCFIB).
The statistics, made public on Monday at the close of the application process, show that 116,188 people from Kogi applied for positions across the four paramilitary agencies and the board.
This places Kogi ahead of Kaduna State, which recorded 114,551 applicants, and Benue State with 110,583. Together, the three states accounted for about 17.8 per cent of the 1,911,377 total applications.
The figures also reveal stark disparities in participation across the country. While some states recorded massive turnouts, others had lower numbers.
Lagos State had 14,216 applicants, while Bayelsa State had the lowest with 11,669. Rivers and Ebonyi were also among states with minimal application volumes.
The CDCFIB noted that shortlisted candidates will be contacted in the coming weeks with details of the next stage of the recruitment process.
“Applicants are advised to keep a close watch on their emails and text messages for notifications, and to regularly check the official recruitment portal for updates,” the board stated.
The 2025 recruitment exercise, covering vacancies in the Nigeria Correctional Service (NCoS), Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS), Federal Fire Service (FFS), and Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), was launched in mid-July after initial delays.
It was originally scheduled to begin on June 26, the process was postponed to July 14, but faced a brief suspension due to technical challenges.
The portal was reopened on July 21, and the application deadline was extended from August 4 to August 11, 2025.
